How compatibility checking works

The builders compare exact products in a maintained catalogue and explain the relevant relationship between them.

1. Choose a product

For cameras, begin with a body and select from supported lenses, cards, batteries, chargers and filters. For power tools, choose a manufacturer and tool, then a battery and charger in the supported ecosystem. Available choices narrow as you build.

2. Review each relationship

The checker applies recorded rules and evidence for the products in its catalogue. It explains what is known about the selected combination. Product names, voltage or physical resemblance on their own do not prove compatibility.

3. Understand the result

  • Compatible: a supported relationship is recorded for the exact selection.
  • Compatible with limitation: review the stated condition or reduced function.
  • Requires adapter: check the specified adapter and its own compatibility before buying.
  • Incompatible: the recorded relationship does not support the combination.
  • Unknown: there is not enough verified information to recommend the combination.

4. Confirm before purchasing

Check all model numbers, variants and regional suffixes in the result against the latest manufacturer manual or compatibility list and the retailer’s exact listing. Specifications and product revisions can change. If the exact item is absent from the catalogue, the checker does not establish its compatibility.
